Clare Newman - course instructor​

If you’ve been in the yoga community for a while, you’ll recognize Clare from the Lion’s Breath days in Edmonton.  Clare has been teaching yoga since 2005, making teaching yoga her full-time career for 20 years.  From studio ownership to running an e-commerce yoga training business, Clare has a vast amount of experience with over 30,000 teaching hours.  

 

Clare has been teaching Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga trainings since 2007 and takes pride in creating programs that allow teachers to be versatile in their teaching skills.  Originally trained in Iyengar Yoga, she has taught Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Power Yoga, Somatic Release, Myofascial Movement, Restorative and Yin Yoga.  She is mostly known for creating Mamata Yoga in 2011, a Fertility - Prenatal - Postnatal Yoga Training program that certifies yoga teachers in perinatal yoga.

 

Clare teaches alignment and mobility practices that focus on keeping all bodies healthy and active during the many phases of our lives.  Her vast anatomical training, along with her knowledge of pose adaptations and modifications, will teach you how to keep your students safe while connecting to their deepest level.  

 

Clare started her own yoga journey as a student in 1999 after a debilitating car accident left her with a fracture in her L4-L5.  To avoid having her discs fused, her physiotherapist recommended yoga to maintain mobility in her spine, and she’s been practicing ever since.  If you can’t find Clare on her mat, you’ll find her spending quality time with her blended family in St. Albert, consisting of 5 children, 2 dogs and her partner.
